Carew vs Asana

Asana is built to plan and track work across teams. Carew builds software that runs a specific process, with its own data and calculations.

The short answer

Use Asana to plan projects, track deadlines and coordinate work across departments. It is mature, well supported and quick to roll out.

Use Carew when the problem is less about who does which task and more about the work itself: records, calculations, approvals and data that move between your systems.

When Asana is the better choice

If your challenge is coordination, such as deadlines slipping, unclear ownership or work spread across departments, Asana is designed for exactly that and is far quicker and cheaper than building anything.

When Carew is the better choice

Some processes cannot be described as a list of tasks. A monthly valuation, an order flow or a creator programme needs records, rules and calculations that a project tool does not hold, so the real work ends up in spreadsheets beside it.

That is where a custom system earns its cost. The software does the sums and keeps the record, and Asana can carry on managing projects around it.

Questions

Can we keep using Asana?

Yes. Asana can keep managing projects while the custom system runs the process. We can connect the two if that helps.

How do we know which we need?

If the work is mostly people and deadlines, a project tool is enough. If it involves calculations, stock, orders or data copied between systems, you probably need a system. The first call will tell you which.

How long does a build take?

Typically four to 12 weeks. West Country Renovations went live 53 days after the build started.

Who owns the software?

You do, once it is paid for. The custom code we write for you is yours, as set out in our terms.
