Carew vs ClickUp
ClickUp is a flexible platform for managing tasks, documents and projects. Carew builds software around one process, with its own records, rules and connections.
The short answer
Use ClickUp to manage projects and tasks across a team, especially if your processes change often. It is ready the day you sign up and you configure it yourself.
Use Carew when a core process has outgrown task lists: when the work involves records, calculations, stock, orders or outside partners that a task tool was not designed to hold.
Side by side
| Area | Carew | ClickUp |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Software built for one business's process | A general platform for tasks, documents, goals and projects |
| Ready to use | After the build, typically four to 12 weeks | The same day |
| How data is held | Your own records, such as creators, orders or valuations, with rules between them | Tasks and lists with custom fields |
| Cost | One fixed build price, with no per-user fee | A monthly subscription for each user on paid plans |
| Connections | Built for the systems you use, such as orders sent to Fulfil.io | A large library of standard integrations and automations |
| Outside partners | Each partner sees only their own records | Guest access and permissions, depending on plan |
| Changes | Agreed and priced before they are made | Made by you, at any time |

When ClickUp is the better choice
If you need to coordinate projects across a team, track who is doing what and change the way you work as you go, ClickUp does that well and costs little to try. Building custom software for general task management makes no sense.
When Carew is the better choice
HexClad ran influencer seeding through ClickUp task lists, spreadsheets and email. Each request was a task, but the real work, who was sent what, which order went to which warehouse and who had posted, sat outside the tool.
The system we built holds creators, campaigns and orders as proper records, sends orders to Fulfil.io automatically and gives partner agencies their own access. The two kinds of tool can run side by side: ClickUp for projects, and a custom system for the process that outgrew it.
Questions
Do we have to stop using ClickUp?
No. You can keep ClickUp for projects and use a custom system for the one process that outgrew it. We can connect the two if that helps.
Will it cost less than ClickUp?
It depends on team size and how long you run it. A per-user subscription grows with every hire. A system you own does not. Compare the cost over three years, not one month.
Can partners and agencies log in?
Yes. In the HexClad system, partner agencies submit requests for their own creators and cannot see anyone else's.
Who owns the software?
You do, once it is paid for. The custom code we write for you is yours, as set out in our terms.
